Career Shock Study Details
What is the aim of the study?
The aim of the study is to investigate transformative learning experiences in people who have experienced a career shock, post pandemic. By investigating this area, the research findings will support individuals to understand more about how the learning process is experienced, to what level of transformative depth or how radical it is.
How do I participate?
If you decide to take part, you will be asked to participate in a 1:1 interview via Microsoft Teams, lasting 60 to 90 minutes.
I will be using a semi-structured interview format which means that I will be asking a specific set of questions.
Interview themes may be shared with you prior to the interview.
How do I sign up?
If you meet the participation criteria and have an interest in participating, please email me at i.parry@bbk.ac.uk

I will then send you more information about the interview and provide further background.
Can I participate?
I am inviting people who have experienced a career shock that has made them question their assumptions or shifted them to think differently about their careers, and leading to a significant transformation in their careers.
People could be employed in an organisation, working independently, unemployed or during career transitions and need to be at a mature stage in their careers, aged 40-60.
What are my participation rights?
Participation in this research guarantees the right to withdraw, the right to ask questions about how your data will be handled and about the study itself.
You have the right to confidentiality and anonymity – no raw data will be available to anyone other than the researcher and her supervisor and all results will be reported thematically.
When?
Participant recruitment will take place over April and May 2024, with research interviews being scheduled for late May 2024. You will be contacted by the researcher to provide an interview time and date at your convenience, followed by a Teams invite.
Summary findings will be available to participants at the conclusion of the study, around December 2024 and I would be very happy to talk you through the findings, at that point.
